Not mine this time, but a friend of mine that was over visiting. She’d been talking about getting her hair cut and was on a budget, so I suggested Zeki’s in Kleinbasel, just down the road from Lily’s. I went there when I first arrived in Basel and have never been dissapointed and at 45CHF for a wash (with a bit of a nice massage), cut and low dry it was a complete bargain. I don’t have any before pictures, but it was longer. A lot longer. Say 8/9 inches shorter. In our lack of common language we managed to point at Maia and say that we wanted a cut like hers. It did the job!
Walking out of the salon I had a very happy friend. The least I could do was take a couple of pictures for her to make her feel like a superstar:

In other hairdressing news, a selection of my exhibition images are now being showcased (and sold) at the hairdressers we most frequent as a family, Reference Coiffure. It was here that Maia has her first salon haircut. This is also where I had my inches cut off and where my hair was styled for the opening night of my exhibition. It is a beautiful salon, a few doors up the hill from Atlantis. Yannick in action:

In other news. I fly to the UK tomorrow for the SWPP Convention (weather permitting). It’s a week of workshops, business classes, trade show and smooching with the leading photographers of today. I can’t wait! I’m looking forward to being inspired, educated and actually just being back ‘home’, not that I’m from London (I was born about an hour North of London), but I’m looking forward to going to a real pub at least one evening and a trip to a Marks & Spenser’s food court. Yum! Food clearly rules my brain.
See you all when I get back (late on the 18th Jan). Hopefully with new prices/policies, ideas and plans for a successful 2010.
